Wow…can you believe it? It’s basically 2019. Time flies.
I hope you reached all your goals this year and then some! I know it’s hard to maintain the momentum from January 1, 2019 throughout the rest of year so I thought it’d be helpful to leave you with something you can carry with you for 365 days and beyond. And well, since I like to end my year with a bang, instead of just one #ChikasTaxTip, I leave you with eight!
Let’s begin:
1. Set goals and stick to them
How can you slay 2019 if you don’t know what you want to accomplish first? If you haven’t already, take time out of today to create a vision board or list of goals you want to accomplish for next year. Hang it up somewhere as a handy inspirational reminder.
2. Follow a strict budget
Have you heard of the 50-30-20 rule? If you struggle with spending and saving your money wisely, refer back to this trick – spend 50% of your income on necessities, 30% on fun/personal items and 20% to your savings account. Download my free budgeting sheet to guide you.
3. Believe in yourself
If you won’t, then who will?
4. Use 1099 forms
We’ve already been through this. 1099s are nothing to be afraid of and they make life so much easier in terms of tracking your taxable income! Check out my blog post on it.
5. Invest in your hobbies
I teach Birkam Yoga a couple times a week and it is honestly a great stress reliever, despite my busy schedule. We have to make more time for things we love to do that isn’t necessarily related to our bread n butter.
6. Stop giving a f***
I talked to a Tarot Card reader earlier this month. This is not something I usually would do or recommend, but I’m not gonna lie, she told me something I honestly needed to hear: stop caring so damn much.
I used to worry about feedback that made me feel like I had to fundamentally change myself but we, especially as women, need to stop doing that. The less time we spend trying to appease others, the more time we can spend loving ourselves for who we are.
7. Stay organized
As an accountant, I can’t stress how important this is. There is nothing worse than a client that hands me crinkled up papers or can’t keep track of crucial tax documents. Stay organized, so you don’t get stressed out later at least for your sake (and for your accountant’s too.)
8. Join Chika’s Tax Tips FB group
The Facebook group is lit! If you’re looking for a dope, digital space to connect with other cool entrepreneurial women like yourself, then look no further. I regularly post important questions, tips and other tidbits that only the Chika’s Tax Tips community gets first dibs on. What are you waiting for? Join today!
Thank you to everyone for helping make this my best year yet! I hope you have an amazing New Years. Cheers to starting 2019 strong ??
With love,
Chika
