A lot of folks chase success but also say that they will never change in order to get it.
Well, there are only two things guaranteed in life. One of those things is death and the other is that change is constant. I’m not trying to get dark today so let’s focus on the latter.
Nothing ever just happens to a person. For the most part, a million dollars won’t magically fall into your lap while you’re sitting on the couch or all your problems won’t simply evaporate at the snap of a finger. Of course, there are miracles, but 99.99% of the time, you have to go out and get it yourself.
In order to keep going in life, you not only have to accept that change is inevitable, you also have to welcome it with open arms. You have to want it; crave it even. That can be hard because we tend to get comfortable where we are in life – and nostalgia is one hell of a drug. You don’t have to change who you fundamentally are, but once you understand that you are infinitely malleable and can become anything you want to be, life truly begins.
I’ve never wanted to be the kind of person where things simply ‘happen’ to them. I always wanted to be in control of my life and feel proud of my hard work and success. In order for myself to have all that I have, I had to learn to trust my gut and adapt quickly.
I adapted when I decided to quit my corporate accounting job at 25. I grew when I started and ended my own nutrition consulting business. I became more like myself when I realized I loved numbers the most and helping entrepreneurs figure out their financial sweet spots year after year.
That’s why I’m confronting change by grabbing it by the horns once again. I’ve run the Chika’s Tax Tips newsletter and FB community for a year- with that came amazing connections with business owners from all over, a lot of mistakes and lessons and amazing accomplishments at the same time. I’m grateful for what was done and now, I’m ready to take it up a notch.
I figured talking about taxes was only a slice of what I want my legacy to be. We were already discussing about topics beyond business; we were talking about life too. That’s why I’ve changed my FB community and email service to The BLT – Business and Life Tips, where success-hungry entrepreneurs come together.
I’ve been an accountant serving businesses of the Bay Area since the beginning of my entrepreneurial career almost a decade ago. But now, I’m shifting into a Profit & Growth Advisory title. Like with my social pages, I don’t want to just focus on taxes. I want to help entrepreneurs reach the next level of their business journey.
I’m looking forward to the changes 2020 will bring. I’m grabbing them by the horn. 😉
To more money in our pockets
