Tax season is upon us! I hope you’re ready like I am. To set the tone, I’ll place important tax dates before every post until April 15 so you don’t forget. We staying on top of our game all 2019!

January 28 – Filing season begins
January 31 – 1099 Deadline for Businesses
March 15 – Partnership & S-Corp Tax Deadline
April 15 – Individual & C-CorpTax Deadline

I already spilled the tea on 1099 forms last month with my blog post The Secret to 1099’s. 1099’s are simple and quick ways to ensure independent contractors get paid and pay taxes. But y’all knew that (and if not, read the post).

I’m not going to get into that right now because this will be dedicated to employers or those who pay independent contractors. Businesses must send 1099s to all contractors reporting non-employee compensation in box 7 by January 31. This date sticks whether you file electronically or by paper. For all other non box 7 income, February 28th is the paper filing deadline and April 1 is the electronic filing deadline.

My #ChikaTaxTip: Stay on top of your deadlines! This is not a time to procrastinate. I promise you, it’s so much easier to start early and do a little bit day by day instead of pushing everything to the last minute.

With love,

Chika.
